Mat's success with his solo theatre shows, at festivals, and on national and international tours, has earned him several theatre awards, two runs at the London International Mime Festival, performances as far afield as Australia, South Korea, Finland, Germany and Belgium, a week at the Purcell Room, in London's South Bank Centre, and several London West End sell-outs.

His groundbreaking work merges verbal and physical comedy, storytelling, movement, and of course, his trademark spectacular feats of dexterity. 

His fourth solo work, "Mat Ricardo Vs The World" completely sold out its Edinburgh fringe run, gaining faultlessly excellent reviews along the way, before going on national tour.

His most recent full-length solo show “The Extraordinary Gentleman” was the sole cabaret show awarded five stars by The Scotsman at the Edinburgh Fringe.

A desire to bring an exciting, new style variety show to a West-End theatre fuelled Mat's "London Varieties" project. For four seasons, so far, alongside numerous one-off specials around the globe, the shows mix the stars of the new variety world, with some of the biggest names in comedy and cabaret, and deliver unique nights, packed with one-off moments, collaborations, show-stopping performances and heartfelt interviews.

Mat's guests have included Al Murray, the late Paul Daniels, Eddie Izzard, Dave Gorman, Omid Djalili, Jenny Eclair, Lionel Blair, Abandoman, The Boy With Tape On His Face, along with some of the finest circus and variety performers in the world.

The most recent London season completely sold out its West End run.
